Bingo Scholarship
Bingo Scholarships are awarded to Etowah County residents. A minimum 2.5 GPA is required. Awards are based on available funds and are awarded for one term on a term-by-term basis. Students may apply for Bingo Scholarships more than once.
Boatwright (Barry) Scholarship
The Barry Boatwright Memorial Scholarship provides tuition for a second year student in a science-related major. Recommendation is made by the Science Department. Minimum 3.0 GPA is required.
Buffalo Rock Donation Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a full-time student. A minimum 2.5 GPA is required. The scholarship can be applied for tuition, book, supplies or fees.
Buffalo Rock End. Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded for Fall and Spring semesters to a deserving student. A minimum 2.5 GPA is required.
Culp Industries Endowment Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to an employee or dependent of an individual who has been employed at Culp Industries for at least one year. A graduating high school student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA to apply and must maintain a 2.5 GPA to continue to receive this scholarship. Applicants must complete FAFSA to be considered.
Donation Scholarship
Donation Scholarships are awarded as funds are available. Priority consideration is given to students in their last term of attendance prior to graduation. A minimum 2.0 GPA is required.
Funds to Finish Scholarship
This scholarship covers 3 credit hours. Students must have completed a general scholarship application. Students must have completed 12 credit hours minimum. 2.0 GPA required. Students may be full-time or part-time.
Gadsden State Community College Mascot "SWOOP"
This Scholarship provides tuition assistance for students who are selected to serve as the Gadsden State Mascot.
- Student will receive tuition up to 6 hours for Fall and Spring semesters (with possible 6 hours for Summer session) to provide “partial scholarship” status.
- Student will be a full-time Gadsden State student with at least 12 academic hours for Fall and Spring semesters.
- Student will be in and remain in good academic standing of at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
- Student will perform, entertain, and improvise as the costumed mascot Cardinal “Swoop” at college, community, special events and athletic events.
- Student will be a role model to other students at college, community, and athletic events and will not have any disciplinary actions related to student or mascot behavior.
- Student will represent the college as mascot in a dependable and responsible manner, which includes but is not limited to arriving at appearances prepared and on time.
- Student will represent the college as mascot with energy, enthusiasm, school spirit, and creative imagination.
- Student will have a completed Gadsden State scholarship application accompanied by appropriate transcripts on file.
- Student agrees to be available for up to 5 hours per week for appearances at college, community, and athletic events during the Fall and Spring semesters as approved by the Mascot Sponsors.
- Some travel will be required, and students must have a means of transportation to events.
- Student has the option of enrolling in a summer academic session, but the student will be expected to be available for appearances on a reduced schedule as approved by the supervisor.
- Student agrees to participate in training, practice, and preparation in accordance with direction from the supervisor or designated representative.
- Student agree to accept supervision from the designated representative at the college, community, and athletic events as assigned to that event.

- You are expected to perform a spontaneous dance routine.
- You asked to try on the cardinal costume to respond to situations Swoop might encounter.
- Fall 2024 auditions will be held on Sept. 17 and Sept. 18 by appointment only.
GED Full Scholarship (Academic & Technical)
The GED Scholarship is awarded at the Fall and Spring GED graduation to the graduate with the highest GED test score. The scholarship covers up to 13 credit hours for the Fall and Spring semesters for up to two years. A minimum 2.5 GPA is required to maintain scholarship eligibility.
Haas Foundation Scholarship - Ayers
This scholarship is awarded to students recommended by the Precision Machining Department on the Ayers Campus who are currently enrolled in the Precision Machining program. This scholarship is funded by the Gene Haas Foundation Co. After completing the General Scholarship Application, please contact the Precision Machining Department for more information.
Haas Foundation Scholarship - Gadsden
This scholarship is awarded to students recommended by the Precision Machining Department on the Gadsden Campus who are currently enrolled in the Precision Machining program. This scholarship is funded by the Gene Haas Foundation Co. After completing the General Scholarship Application, please contact the Precision Machining Department for more information.
Health Sciences Scholarship - Admitted College Student
Health Sciences Scholarships are awarded to students who have declared a health sciences major. A minimum of 2.75 GPA required. Students who apply with undeclared or general major statuses are not eligible for consideration of Health Sciences Scholarships.
McCord (R & E) Scholarship
Rena and Edgar Mccord Scholarship provides partial tuition to a deserving student with first preference given to an education major, but could be awarded to another major depending upon student circumstances.
Neely Henry Lake Assoication (NHLA) Scholarship
This scholarship is designed for a student that will be involved in a field of study that corresponds with the objectives of the Neely Henry Lake Association. This is a $500 scholarship that will be awarded yearly.
Requirements
Requirements
- 3.0 GPA or higher
- Students need to be in the following field of study biology, environmental science, chemistry, pre-engineering, computer science etc.
- Scholarship recipient to be from either Etowah, Calhoun or St. Clair counties preferred.
- Student needs to have a financial need.
- Volunteer Hours - It would be beneficial if the scholarship recipient participates (or has participated) in community service involving some type of environmental stewardship activities. This could involve, but not be limited to, land and/or water cleanup, recycling, involvement with organizations that sponsor or promote environmental stewardship (e.g. environmental clubs or organizations) etc. (We do not have a specific time/hour’s requirement. However, the more time they have participated in these types of activities the better.)
Nolen (Jim) Scholarship
The Jim Nolen Scholarship is awarded to a current year graduating high school student with a “B” average who demonstrates financial need, enrolls in a technical program, and is involved in community activities. The recipient must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Opportunity Scholarship
The Opportunity scholarship is awarded to students with financial need as set forth in the State Board guidelines. Applicants must complete a FAFSA to verify financial eligibility. A minimum 2.5 GPA is required.
Pentecost (Nan) Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Eric Pentecost in honor of his wife, Nan. This scholarship provides partial tuition assistance for a second-year nursing student. The recipient is recommended by the Nursing Department and approved by the Scholarship Committee.
Poultry Science Scholarship
Students in the 2+2 Poultry Science Program have the opportunity to work in an industry that generates more than $3.1 billion each year in Alabama and accounts for more than 65 percent of the state’s annual farming revenues.
While at Gadsden State, students enrolled in the partnership program will complete their core curriculum as well as an introductory agriculture class that is streamed live from the campus of Auburn University. Scholarship awards in the amount of 15 credit hours are currently available. Scholarship evaluation criteria includes:
- Intention to transfer to Auburn University and major in Poultry Science
- Description of educational and career goals (no more than 250 words)
- GPA of 2.5 or greater
Sanders/Burgard Endowment Scholarship
These scholarships were established by Gadsden physician E. Max Sanders, M.D., and Martha Burgard Sanders. It covers tuition and books for students. Consideration will be given to students with financial need.
SGA Scholarship
This scholarship provides tuition assistance for the elected officers of the Student Government Association.
The Student Government Association (SGA), a body of student representatives and officers, is the coordinating body for student activities and special events approved by the College. Its purposes are to foster interest and involvement in all aspects of college citizenship, to encourage involvement in important decisions affecting students, and to afford students opportunities for leadership development.

Criteria:
- Be a student in good standing with the college.
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Be elected by popular vote of the student body. (If only one student per category qualifies, no vote will be held.)
- Have participated in two SGA events or more prior to running for office.
- Students must demonstrate leadership in SGA or in other organizations at the college.
- Students will be role models to other students across the college.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as executive officer of SGA
- Preside over all meetings of SGA or designate someone to serve
- Work closely with the Coordinator of Student Activities in planning and scheduling of events
- Assist in the development of the student calendar published by SGA
- Serve as student representative on college-wide committees and/or designate student representatives to serve
- Promote all SGA appointed and elected positions for SGA and college-wide committees

Start Strong Scholarship
Start Strong Scholarships provide assistance to students who do not receive other institutional opportunities. These scholarships are available to high school seniors graduating in 2024. The application period is from November 1st to March 1st of each year.

Technical Scholarships assist selected students with in-state tuition who are pursuing technical degrees or certificates. These scholarships are available to high school seniors graduating in 2024. The application period is from November 1st to March 1st of each year.

Thomas (Nell) Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded annually to a second-year student with consideration given to a student with financial need. Recipients are selected by the Nursing Department.
Tyler Union Workforce Development Scholarships
• Scholarship Description – The purpose of the scholarship is to promote the education of deserving students attending Gadsden State Community College who attended a public or private high school in Calhoun County and are pursuing one of the following areas of study to earn an electrician degree (A.A.S.):

A student must be pursuing a technical degree or certificate. A minimum of 2.5 GPA. Recipients are recommended by the Technical scholarship committee.
Walker (Rubye) Scholarship
This fund provides both full- and partial-tuition scholarships to students based on need and/or academic achievement.
Whitaker (Riley & Marie) Scholarship
This memorial scholarship is awarded to a deserving graduating senior of Glencoe High School. Consideration is given based on academic record (minimum 2.5 GPA required), demonstrated financial need and faculty/leader recommendations. The recipient is recommended by Glencoe High School and approved by the Scholarship Committee.
